Job summary

Plum Jobs is seeking an experienced Procurement Engineer based in Dubai to manage sourcing and procurement of building materials, equipment and engineering products for new build and refurbishment projects.

You will oversee supplier relationships, commercial negotiations and cost optimization, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project requirements, while also supervising stores operations and stock control to maintain efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years UAE procurement experience in building materials, construction or engineering.
• Engineering background with ability to understand technical specs and material requirements.
• Proven experience managing supplier negotiations and vendor relationships.
• Strong analytical and commercial skills with proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement for building materials, equipment and engineering products to support project requirements.
• Source, evaluate, and develop supplier relationships; negotiate terms to improve cost, quality and supply performance.
• Monitor market conditions and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with project, engineering, warehouse and finance teams for procurement planning and delivery schedules.
• Oversee stores operations, including inventory control, stock reconciliation and audits.

Our client is a well-established building materials company serving the construction sector across the UAE.

We are recruiting an experienced Procurement Engineer to manage the sourcing and procurement of building materials, equipment and engineering products for new build and refurbishment projects. Based in Dubai, the role will focus on supplier management, commercial negotiations, cost optimization and ensuring materials are delivered on time and in line with project requirements.

The successful candidate will also oversee stores operations, including inventory control, stock management and audits to maintain accurate stock levels and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process for building materials, equipment and engineering products, ensuring quality, competitive pricing and timely availability to support project requirements.
• Source, evaluate and develop supplier relationships, negotiating commercial terms and improving cost, quality and supply performance.
• Monitor market conditions, material pricing and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and strengthen procurement efficiency.
• Coordinate with project, engineering, warehouse and finance teams to ensure effective procurement planning, delivery schedules and stock availability.
• Oversee stores operations, including inventory control, stock reconciliation and regular audits to maintain accurate records and efficient stock management.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ UAE procurement experience within the building materials, construction or engineering sector, with strong knowledge of local suppliers and market practices.
• Engineering background with the ability to understand technical specifications, project requirements and material requirements.
• Proven experience managing supplier negotiations, vendor relationships and commercial procurement activities.
• Strong analytical and commercial skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP procurement systems.

Candidate Profile

• Currently residing in the UAE.
• Strong communicator with good written and verbal English skills.
• Commercially focused and organized, with the ability to manage multiple procurement activities, solve problems and deliver results within project deadlines.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering is mandatory.
