Abu Alnaga Contracting is looking for an experienced and motivated Procurement Engineer to join our building construction team. The candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and services while ensuring compliance with project specifications, approved materials, required quality standards, budget, and project schedules.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of construction materials, excellent supplier coordination skills, and the ability to evaluate technical and commercial offers effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement process for construction materials, equipment, tools, and subcontracted services.
- Review project drawings, specifications, BOQs, material requirements, and procurement schedules to identify purchasing requirements.
- Prepare and issue RFQs (Request for Quotations) to approved and potential suppliers.
- Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, technical compliance, delivery time, and payment terms.
- Obtain and compare technical and commercial quotations and prepare comparison statements for management approval.
- Coordinate with consultants, project managers, site engineers, quantity surveyors, and other departments regarding material requirements.
- Verify that proposed materials and products comply with project specifications and approved material submittals.
- Coordinate with suppliers for technical documentation, samples, catalogues, test certificates, and compliance documents.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and ensure timely approval and placement of orders.
- Monitor procurement schedules and follow up with suppliers to ensure materials are delivered according to project requirements.
- Coordinate with logistics and site teams regarding material delivery, unloading, storage, and inspection.
- Follow up on delayed, damaged, or non-conforming materials and coordinate necessary corrective actions.
- Maintain an updated supplier and subcontractor database and develop new sources when required.
- Evaluate supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, reliability, and delivery.
- Maintain proper procurement records, including RFQs, quotations, comparison sheets, purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
- Assist the commercial and project teams in identifying cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, project requirements, and applicable standards.
- Monitor market prices and availability of major construction materials.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC team to ensure materials received on site are inspected and approved before use.
- Support project teams in resolving material-related technical and procurement issues.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- 3-7 years of experience in procurement within the building construction or contracting industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and local market conditions.
- Experience in sourcing, quotation evaluation, price negotiation, and purchase order management.
- Ability to understand construction drawings, BOQs, specifications, and material submittals.
- Good knowledge of technical and commercial evaluation of supplier quotations.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Experience with ERP/procurement software is an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project procurement deadlines.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Candidates with experience in building construction, main contracting, interior fit-out, or MEP procurement will be preferred.
