Job description

As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, optimization, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring of process systems on oil and gas production facilities. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of process units both offshore and onshore.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and evaluate process systems for oil, gas, and water treatment including separation, dehydration, gas compression, and injection systems.
  • Perform process simulations and develop PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).
  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments such as HAZOP and HAZID.
  • Support operations and maintenance teams during startup, shutdown, and turnaround activities.
  • Optimize plant performance to improve efficiency, throughput, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (API, ASME, ISO), environmental regulations, and safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers.
  • Provide technical input during FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and detailed engineering phases.
  • Participate in audits, incident investigations, and performance reviews.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and operational staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in oil & gas processing, with at least 5 years in offshore or onshore production facilities.
  • Strong understanding of process engineering principles and tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II, Pipesim).
  • Familiarity with offshore safety systems (e.g., ESD, HIPPS, F&G).
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards (API, NORSOK, ISO).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in offshore environments and comply with rotation schedules and offshore safety protocols (BOSIET, HUET, etc., if required).
