Job description

Private Chef (Asian Cuisine) - Dubai, UAE

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Salary: $5000 - $7000 USD/month (housing & transport allowance)

Job Type: Fulltime Permanent

Start Date: Within 30 days

Korean, Japanese, Chinese, or Thai nationals only may apply.

About the Family & Role

A Korean-Canadian couple living in Dubai is seeking an experienced Private Chef with a Michelin-starred or 5-star hotel background to cook for them in their private home. The role involves planning and preparing daily meals, sourcing high-quality ingredients, and ensuring a balance between fine dining and nutritious home cooking.

This is a long-term position for a chef who understands the unique expectations of a private household. While the employers enjoy high-end cuisine, their daily meals should be tailored to their dietary preferences, including a focus on healthy, low-carb options.

The chef must be comfortable working independently as there will be no additional kitchen staff and should be adaptable to changes in meal preferences and schedules. The family owns a large dog, so candidates should be comfortable around pets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Personalized Menu Planning & Meal Preparation
    • Develop a weekly meal plan catering to the employers' tastes and dietary needs.
    • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily focusing on Korean, Japanese, Chinese, or Thai cuisine.
    • Ensure meals are balanced, fresh, and nutritious with an emphasis on low-carb and high-quality ingredients.
    • Adapt to occasional entertaining needs, creating fine dining experiences when required.
    • Be flexible with last-minute meal changes based on the couple's business and travel schedules.
  2. Ingredient Sourcing & Kitchen Management
    • Personally source and select the best ingredients from local and international markets.
    • Maintain relationships with premium suppliers to ensure access to high-quality products.
    • Keep a well-stocked, organized pantry and kitchen while managing food costs and minimizing waste.
    • Ensure strict hygiene and sanitation in food preparation.
  3. Understanding Private Chef Work
    • Recognize that private service differs from restaurant kitchens—the employers' preferences take priority over creative expression.
    • Be comfortable with repeating favorite dishes and preparing simple homestyle meals when requested.
    • Understand that unlike a restaurant, the chef must directly interact with the employers, taking feedback and making adjustments.

Candidate Profile Required Qualifications & Skills

  1. Culinary Expertise & Experience
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Michelin-starred restaurant/5-star luxury hotel.
    • Strong background in Korean, Japanese, Chinese, or Thai cuisine.
    • Experience as a private chef or in high-end hospitality is a plus.
    • Nutritional knowledge is required, particularly in low-carb and healthy meal preparation.
  2. Professional Traits & Adaptability
    • Highly organized, self-sufficient, and detail-oriented.
    • Able to work independently without a supporting kitchen team.
    • Professional and discreet with a strong understanding of household privacy and etiquette.
    • Comfortable with last-minute meal requests and schedule changes.
    • Open to feedback and willing to adjust menus based on employer preferences.
  3. Additional Requirements
    • Driver's License: Required (you will do the ingredient shopping).
    • Language: Fluency in English required; Korean, Chinese, or Japanese is a plus.
    • Visa Sponsorship: Employer will provide a UAE employment visa.

Compensation & Benefits

  1. Salary: $5000 - $7000 USD/month (based on experience).
  2. Housing & Transport:
    • The employer offers a housing allowance OR can provide an apartment.
    • Transport allowance.
  3. Work Visa & Medical Insurance: Fully covered by the employer.
  4. Annual Flight: Return flight to home country once a year.
  5. Paid Vacation: 30 days per year.
  6. Stable Long-Term Position with a high-profile employer.

Work Environment & Hiring Process

Private Household Setting: The chef will work one-on-one with the employers in their home without additional staff.

Flexible Work Schedule: Expected 6 days per week, 8 hours per day with adjustments based on the employers' travel and commitments.

No extensive travel required: The chef will remain in Dubai while the employers travel.

Why This Opportunity

  1. Work directly for a Korean-Canadian family in Dubai who values high-quality dining and nutrition.

  3. Balance fine dining with homestyle cooking in a well-equipped private kitchen.
  4. Opportunity for creativity while working within the couple's dietary preferences.
