Principal Urban Planner And Landscape Architect

Context

The Principal Urban Planner and Landscape Architect is responsible for planning, designing, and delivering landscape architectural solutions for complex infrastructure and mobility projects. This role ensures that landscape and urban designs satisfy both functional requirements and environmental standards, creating sustainable and aesthetically pleasing environments that enhance the user experience.

Missions/Main Duties

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development of landscape concepts, detailed designs, and construction documents for transport and urban infrastructure projects.
  • Develop urban design concepts to ensure contextual appropriateness and alignment with local aspirations.
  • Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary landscape team, fostering collaboration between landscape architects, urban designers, engineers, and environmental specialists.
  • Liaise with clients, project managers, authorities, and external consultants to coordinate input and resolve design challenges.
  • Ensure that all landscape designs adhere to relevant environmental regulations, sustainability guidelines, and local planning policies.
  • Review drawings and documents, conducting quality checks to ensure accuracy, feasibility, and buildability.
  • Coordinate workloads, monitor progress against project deliverables, and ensure timely and efficient delivery of landscape documentation.
  • Build strong client relationships and contribute to winning work.

Profile/Skills

  • Education: Bachelor s degree or higher in landscape architecture or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years relevant landscape design experience, preferably in large-scale transportation or urban development projects.
  • Proven experience in project and team management.
  • Proficient in landscape design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • Experience with BIM and digital collaboration tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of local (i.e., GCC and RTA) landscape, environmental, and Urban design planning regulations.
