Principal Simulation Engineer Jobs in Abu Dhabi, UAE
Responsibilities:
Aircraft Modeling:develop and validate UAV (fixed wing and multicopter) 6-DOF simulation models, including aerodynamics, propulsion, systems and environment
Flying Qualities Analysis:evaluate aircraft behavior in static and dynamic simulations, verifying requirements and aircraft robustness
Process Automation:improve simulation and model validation automation
Aircraft Sizing:support conceptual and preliminary design for flying qualities perspective, such as stability and controllability requirements
Flight Test Support and Data Analysis:propose UAV flight test points to evaluate flying qualities and control law. Analyze flight test data to find aircraft problems and improvements
Model Adjustment:correct modeling database based on flight test results
Project Management:Taking ownership of tasks while adhering to deadlines and budgets.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree: A bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is a plus.
Experience:Minimum of 5 years of experience in flying qualities or aircraft modeling and simulation (preference for 10+ years).
Programming Skills:Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink. Python programming is a plus
System Modeling:Strong understanding of dynamic system modeling and simulation tools, specially aircraft-related systems (propulsion, sensors and actuators). Experience in rotary wing modeling will be considered a bonus.
Aerodynamics:able to understand and have a critical evaluation of aerodynamic coefficients from wind tunnel and CFD analysis, implement and validate them in the flying qualities model
Aircraft Design Phases: Familiarity with Aircraft Design Phases (conceptual, preliminary, and detail)
Problem-Solving Skills:Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex aerodynamic issues.
Team Player:Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
Adaptability:Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
