Job Description:

Principal Mechanical Engineer (Design)

Location: Dubai, UAE

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role you will provide the necessary technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to the mechanical staff while working on some of the most exciting and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
  • Recent experience in mechanical designs to local and international standards.
  • Extensive experience and proficiency in using BIM software (e.g., Revit) and other software.
  • Develop master plan reports, derive utility demand load calculations, size major equipment and selective protection coordination, tie-in point requirements; full understanding of wet utilities and infrastructure projects from concept to IFC stage.
  • Strong infrastructure engineering background with experience on infrastructure projects calculations and report writing.
  • Design of mechanical equipment for sewerage treatment plants, various storm water, sewerage, irrigation pumping stations, fire pump stations, district cooling networks and gas supply systems.
  • Experience in designs of mechanical systems for multistory buildings and special buildings such as data centers.
  • Analyze project requirements for greenfield and brownfield projects.
  • Familiarity with UAE/Dubai authorities regulations and requirements (e.g., Civil Defense, Municipality, Water and Electrical Authority).
  • Familiarity with UAE local codes and international standards (e.g., NFPA, BS).
  • Prepare design reports, specifications, tender documents and secure design approvals for different project phases, including coordination with client/authorities/sub-consultants.
  • Review design reports prepared by other consultants and prepare design review reports.
  • Prepare technical proposals and estimations for projects, perform technical evaluations of bids and prepare evaluation reports.
  • Coordinate with all local authorities.
  • Carry out value engineering for various technical options and prepare value engineering reports with recommendations.
  • Prepare clarifications to contractor RFIs, review/approve key technical submittals related to mechanical works and dry utilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in mechanical design of infrastructure projects, with at least 4 years in a similar Principal Mechanical Engineer position, preferably within UAE.
  • Experience in mechanical equipment design for sewerage treatment plants, storm water, sewerage, irrigation pumping stations, fire pump stations, district cooling networks and gas supply systems.
  • Recent experience in mechanical designs to local and international standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in relevant software including hydraulic modeling analysis, CFD, surge analysis, and related tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
