Job Description:

Principal Mechanical Engineer (Design)

Dubai, UAE

Parsons is seeking a talented Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the mechanical staff while working on large-scale infrastructure projects.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Design mechanical systems in accordance with local and international standards.
  • Use BIM software such as Revit and others proficiently.
  • Develop master plan reports, calculate utility demands, size major equipment, and coordinate protections, from concept to IFC stage.
  • Apply infrastructure engineering principles to projects involving sewerage treatment, stormwater, sewage, irrigation, fire pumps, district cooling, and gas supply systems.
  • Design mechanical systems for multistory buildings and specialized facilities like data centers.
  • Analyze project requirements for greenfield and brownfield developments.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE Dubai authorities' regulations and standards (Civil Defense, municipality, water, electrical authorities), as well as international standards like NFPA and BS.
  • Prepare design reports, specifications, tender documents, and secure approvals across project phases.
  • Review designs from other consultants and prepare review reports.
  • Develop technical proposals, bid evaluations, and estimation reports.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders.
  • Conduct value engineering and prepare related reports.
  • Handle clarifications, review contractor RFIs, and approve technical submittals related to mechanical works.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience in infrastructure mechanical design, with 4+ years in a Principal Mechanical Engineer role within UAE preferred.
  • Experience designing mechanical systems for sewerage treatment, stormwater, sewage, irrigation, fire pumps, district cooling, and gas supply systems.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including Watts (preferable), hydraulic modeling, CFD, Surge Analysis, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desired Skills:
  • Deep understanding of industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay updated with technical developments in the discipline.
  • Knowledge of contract management and project scope.
  • Effective time and resource management skills.
