Principal Marine Geotechnical Engineer

Dubai Municipality is currently looking for senior-level marine geotechnical engineer with extensive design and construction supervision experience. This is an opportunity to take the lead technical role in interesting and important marine civil infrastructure projects in the Public Beaches & Waterways Management Department of Dubai Municipality.

Key Responsibilities :

• Reviewing, analyzing, and recommending acceptance of detailed design documents and construction drawings received for development approvals from Marine Consultants;
• Participating in inspections / audits to assess construction practices for on-going coastal development projects in the Emirate of Dubai;
• Providing technical support to existing on-going projects initiated by Dubai Municipality;
• Preparing tender documents including preparation of drawings and specifications for new marine or coastal projects;
• Developing cost-effective and practical engineering design and construction solutions;
• Providing lead geotechnical support on key projects;
• Leading geotechnical / geological discipline, project engineering and / or project management roles on a wide variety of municipal projects;
• Managing and conducting geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design assignments.

Qualifications :

• Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Marine Geotechnical Engineering; Ph. D. preferred;
• Well-organized, with a sound knowledge of the application of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, geomorphology, engineering geology, hydrogeology and a keen interest in technical and personal advancement;
• Marine Geotechnical engineer with over 10 years of progressively increasing technical and management experience in large-scale infrastructure and nearshore ports & harbors, and marine developments;
• Experienced in carrying out detailed analysis and design for permanent and temporary onshore and nearshore civil works;
• Experienced in ground improvement of reclaimed marine fills for land development;
• Successfully managed / monitored projects from scope development to project delivery;
• Experienced in establishing design and construction guidelines through extensive use of international codes of practice, viz., BS, EURO, ASCE, AASHTO, etc.

Computer Software Skills

• Extensive hands-on experience in the use of engineering software such as PLAXIS (Soil-Structure Interaction - Finite Element Tool), GEO5, GeoStudio, LPile, SAP, Staad Pro, ETABS etc.
• AutoCAD (Drawing & Graphical Tool)

In addition to technical expertise and competencies, you are enthusiastic, resourceful, organized, and detail-oriented. You demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate effectively and proactively respond to time-sensitive issues. Excellent computer and technical writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-tasked environment are essential.
