About this opportunity
Our Energy team is delivering projects on nuclear new build programmes across the UK, which are crucial to Britain’s energy independence and our NetZero 2050 targets.
The Senior Commercial Manager will own and manage commercial relationships with suppliers within their portfolio. You will be the primary point of contact for all supply chain and commercial matters related to your portfolio of suppliers and contracts, working closely with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. This role involves collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team within a Programme.
Key responsibilities include:
- Procuring, negotiating, and executing construction contracts for your portfolio, ensuring value for money, cost transparency, and stakeholder requirements are met regardless of procurement route and contract type.
- Managing all awarded contracts within your portfolio in accordance with contractual and governance requirements, and project objectives to ensure successful delivery of outcomes.
- Providing oversight of individual contracts to ensure compatibility and alignment with other projects, including regular reporting on scope, schedule, pricing, key personnel, and incentive arrangements.
- Establishing, tracking, and managing corrective actions to meet procurement milestones, ensure value for money, and align with stakeholder and project requirements, including timely contract signing in line with the Integrated Work Schedule.
Who we're looking for
- Relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management; experience in the Nuclear, Civil Engineering, or Service Contracting sectors is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Methodical approach to organization, quick adaptability, and strong problem-solving, negotiation, finance, and numeracy skills.
- HNC, HND, or Degree in Cost Management, Construction Law, or a similar/relevant discipline; candidates with an engineering background may also be considered.
- Professional qualifications or membership of RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS, or other relevant Chartered Institute are desirable and will be supported if not already attained.
