Principal Engineer / Associate - Dry Utilities

We are seeking experienced professionals for the roles of Principal Engineer or Associate. The successful candidates will lead and contribute to electrical and power infrastructure projects in the Middle East.

Based in Abu Dhabi, responsibilities include producing engineering designs, models, reports, and obtaining authority approvals for single and multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.

Your responsibilities include :

  • Providing engineering solutions, analysis, specifications, and procurement support for infrastructure projects.
  • Managing opportunity and risk on projects.
  • Having a good knowledge of contracts and key clauses.
  • Managing deliverables and providing technical support to the team.
  • Preparing schedules, resource plans, and assisting in budget preparation.
  • Leading bids and developing techno-commercial offers in collaboration with internal and external parties.
  • Managing project execution until final delivery, including liaising with NOCs.
  • Monitoring and controlling budgets and invoices.
  • Managing engineers and CAD teams, providing technical support.
  • Designing HV, MV, LV, street lighting, and telecom networks for infrastructure, urban planning, roads, and tunnels.
  • Carrying out grounding, lightning protection, cable containment, and shielding.
  • Undertaking load flow analysis, short circuit, protection schemes, and grounding system calculations.
  • Producing reports, drawings, calculations, and presentations.
  • Attending meetings with authorities regarding utility design proposals.
  • Being aware of local authority regulations in the Gulf region.
  • Advising clients and stakeholders on engineering solutions.
  • Using Dialux, Amtech, ETAP, AutoCAD, Civil3D, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office to produce deliverables.
  • Following QA / QC procedures in line with project requirements.
  • Organizing and attending progress meetings with contractors, consultants, and authorities.
  • Minimizing end-user comments to ensure client satisfaction and high-quality deliverables.
  • Ensuring designs meet all relevant codes and standards.
  • Reviewing contractor shop drawings and material submissions.

Ideal candidates will have :

  • BEng / BSc (Hon) or equivalent in a relevant discipline with at least 13 years of postgraduate experience; C.Eng & PMP are advantageous.
  • Membership or working towards membership of a professional body.
  • Experience modeling power and lighting networks.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • Experience preparing authority approval documentation according to local standards.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both speaking and writing.
