Job summary

Black & White Engineering is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical discipline across major building and infrastructure projects. You will shape technical standards, mentor engineers, and build trusted client relationships while ensuring delivery excellence.

You will oversee design development, reviews, and coordination with other disciplines, driving innovative and sustainable engineering solutions on a global consultancy scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Significant experience in MEP electrical design consultancy for building and infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary project teams and delivering electrical design.
• Strong knowledge of international and local electrical design standards, codes and regulations.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and provide strategic technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical discipline on large-scale building and infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design and construction support.
• Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across multiple project teams and stages.
• Develop and review electrical designs, specifications, calculations, reports, drawings, and contract documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Act as technical authority for electrical engineering matters within the business.
• Manage client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor during delivery.
• Support project directors in resource planning, strategy, and risk management.
• Collaborate with mechanical, public health, structural, and architectural disciplines for integrated solutions.
• Lead technical reviews, design workshops, and value engineering exercises.
• Support business development, proposals, and client presentations.
• Mentor engineers and promote innovation, sustainability, and best practices.

What you'll be doing

• Leading the electrical discipline on large-scale and technically complex building and infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design and construction support
• Providing technical oversight and quality assurance across multiple project teams and project stages
• Developing and reviewing electrical engineering designs, specifications, calculations, reports, drawings, and contract documentation
• Ensuring compliance with applicable international codes, local regulations, industry standards, and client requirements
• Acting as a technical authority for electrical engineering matters within the business
• Managing client relationships and serving as a trusted advisor throughout project delivery
• Supporting project directors and senior management in resource planning, project strategy, and technical risk management
• Collaborating closely with mechanical, public health, structural, and architectural disciplines to deliver integrated engineering solutions
• Leading technical reviews, design workshops, value engineering exercises, and design coordination meetings
• Supporting business development activities, proposal preparation, and client presentations
• Mentoring, developing, and providing technical guidance to senior, intermediate, and junior engineers

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSc/BEng) or equivalent qualification
• Significant experience in MEP electrical design consultancy, delivering complex building and infrastructure projects
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing electrical project delivery
• Strong knowledge of international and regional electrical design standards, codes, and regulations
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and provide strategic technical leadership
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and recognised electrical design software platforms
• Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of project budgets, programme delivery, and change management
• Chartered Engineer status or professional membership with a recognised institution such as IET, CIBSE, or equivalent preferred
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
• A collaborative professional who takes ownership, drives continuous improvement, and supports team success
