Join Us as a Principal DevOps Engineer at Ounass:

At Ounass, we’re looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the technical direction of our infrastructure, platform, and operational tooling. As the most senior technical authority within the DevOps function, you will play a key role in designing scalable, reliable, and secure platform solutions while solving complex technical challenges. Working closely with Engineering and cross-functional teams, you will define the technical approach, establish engineering standards and best practices, and ensure our platform continues to evolve to support the business. This is a hands‑on individual contributor role focused on driving technical excellence through architecture, innovation, and deep technical expertise.

The role is BASED IN DUBAI - role is onsite hybrid.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the technical architecture of cloud infrastructure (AWS), container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), and networking, balancing performance, cost, security, and reliability.
• Design and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD) to enable fast, safe, automated delivery across Magento and microservices.
• Define and enforce standards for observability (Grafana, NewRelic, OpenSearch), alerting, SLOs/SLIs, and incident response.
• Lead infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform/Helm) and drive consistency, reuse, and self-service across teams.
• Act as the final technical escalation point for complex production incidents; lead root‑cause analysis and own the resulting engineering follow‑ups.
• Set the security and reliability baseline — secrets management, vulnerability remediation (e.g. OWASP findings), patching strategy, and disaster‑recovery design.
• Evaluate and recommend tooling, platforms, and vendors; produce the technical case and proof‑of‑concepts behind decisions.
• Mentor engineers technically through design reviews, pairing, and architecture guidance — raising the bar without line‑managing anyone.
• Partner with the DevOps Manager to translate technical priorities (capacity, tech debt, platform roadmap) into deliverable work.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years in DevOps / SRE / platform engineering, with deep hands‑on expertise in AWS and Kubernetes at production scale.
• Expert with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm) and configuration management.
• Strong scripting/automation ability (Python, Bash, Go) and solid software‑engineering fundamentals.
• Proven track record designing CI/CD at scale (Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD) for high‑traffic e‑commerce or comparable systems.
• Deep knowledge of observability and incident management; experience defining SLOs and reducing MTTR.
• Strong grasp of cloud security, networking, and cost optimisation.
• Experience supporting large platforms (e. g. Magento/Adobe Commerce, microservices, high‑volume retail) is a strong advantage

As a hands‑on individual contributor, your primary focus will be technical leadership rather than people management or operational ownership.
