About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Consultant to lead a strategic IT transformation programme for a major joint venture in UAE. This key role combines enterprise architecture leadership with IT strategy development, requiring deep expertise in both domains and the ability to shape the future state of a greenfield IT organisation.

About the Engagement

This 12-month strategic engagement focuses on establishing the IT function for a new joint venture between two major oil and gas companies. The role involves developing the IT strategy, target operating model, and enterprise architecture blueprints, ensuring alignment with business objectives and Saudi regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the development of comprehensive IT strategy aligned with JV business objectives.
2. Design target operating model and governance frameworks.
3. Develop service delivery model and organisational structure.
4. Create technology investment roadmap and prioritisation framework.
5. Define digital transformation initiatives and value realisation approach.
6. Establish enterprise architecture principles and standards.
7. Lead the development of target state architecture across all domains.
8. Ensure architectural consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
9. Guide cloud strategy and architecture development.
10. Oversee security and data architecture alignment.
11. Develop enterprise data strategy and architecture.
12. Design data governance and sovereignty frameworks.
13. Create data platform architecture and standards.
14. Define analytics and data science capabilities.

Stakeholder Management

1. Lead executive-level engagement and steering committee presentations.
2. Facilitate strategic workshops and architecture reviews.
3. Manage relationships with key stakeholders from both parent organisations.
4. Present complex architectural concepts to non-technical audiences.
5. Drive consensus on strategic and architectural decisions.

Delivery Leadership

1. Direct the overall technical direction of the engagement.
2. Ensure quality of deliverables across all workstreams.
3. Mentor and guide technical team members.
4. Manage architectural governance and decision-making.
5. Drive innovation and best practice adoption.

Required Qualifications

Consulting Experience

1. Minimum 10 years experience at tier-1 management consultancies.
2. Strong track record leading large-scale IT strategy and architecture engagements.
3. Experience in oil & gas or similar regulated industries.
4. Previous experience with joint ventures or major transformations.

Technical Skills

1. Extensive experience in data strategy and architecture including:
2. Data governance frameworks.
3. Analytics and data science platforms.
4. Strong cloud architecture knowledge with focus on:
5. Google Cloud Platform (Professional Cloud Architect certification valuable).
6. Understanding of Saudi regulatory environment.
7. Experience with greenfield IT implementations.
