Job summary

GEMS Education in Dubai seeks a passionate Primary Music Teacher to plan and deliver engaging music lessons across the primary phase. You will develop understanding of rhythm, melody, harmony, and notation, lead choirs and ensembles, and assess progress.

The role requires a recognised teaching qualification, a degree in Music, and experience with British or international curricula. You will use music technology and support SEND learners while promoting a vibrant musical culture.

Qualifications

• A recognised teaching qualification.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Music, Music Education or a related field.
• Experience teaching music to primary-aged pupils.
• Strong knowledge of primary music education and effective teaching practices.
• Ability to play and/or teach one or more musical instruments confidently.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Experience working within a British or international curriculum.
• Experience leading choirs, ensembles, bands or school productions.
• Ability to teach instrumental lessons.
• Experience using music technology and digital learning resources.
• Experience supporting students with SEND and diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, creative and age-appropriate music lessons for primary pupils.
• Develop understanding of rhythm, melody, harmony, notation and musical vocabulary.
• Provide opportunities to sing, perform, compose and improvise.
• Lead and support choirs, ensembles, bands and other musical activities.
• Assess pupil progress and maintain records for planning.
• Collaborate with class teachers to support cross-curricular learning.
• Contribute to school concerts and productions.
• Promote a vibrant musical culture across the school.
