Primary Class Teacher and Science Leader – August 2025 Start

We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Primary Class Teacher and Science Leader to join our team from August 2025. This is a key role within the primary department, offering the opportunity to lead and develop science education across the school while maintaining responsibility for your own class. The successful candidate will be passionate about raising standards in science and driving innovation, curiosity, and inquiry-based learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding teaching within your assigned primary class, following the National Curriculum for England
  • Lead the development and implementation of the science curriculum across the primary phase
  • Promote a culture of scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on learning
  • Support and mentor colleagues to improve the quality of science teaching and learning
  • Use data effectively to monitor student progress and identify areas for development
  • Organise and lead science-themed days, fairs, and enrichment opportunities
  • Provide professional development for staff to enhance subject knowledge and pedagogy
  • Ensure consistency in planning, assessment, and differentiation in science across year groups
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and contribute to whole-school improvement planning
  • Maintain effective communication with parents and the wider school community

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) or PGCE with QTS
  • Minimum of 4 years’ teaching experience, with recent experience in the UK curriculum
  • A strong record of impact on student progress, particularly in science
  • Experience or formal role in middle leadership, preferably as a subject or phase leader
  • Deep understanding of scientific enquiry and curriculum development in primary science
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • ADEK approval or eligibility is an advantage
