Job summary

GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail seeks a Deputy Head of Prep School (Teaching and Learning) from January 2027. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across the Prep School to drive excellence in teaching, learning and curriculum innovation.

Qualifications

• Hold a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) and a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
• Master's degree or NPQ in Education, or commitment to ongoing leadership development.
• Significant leadership experience in a high-performing British-curriculum school.
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for England and Prep-phase practices.
• Proven track record of improving teaching quality and pupil outcomes.
• Knowledge of KHDA inspection standards and UAE educational expectations.
• Experience leading curriculum development and whole-school improvement initiatives.
• Skilled in coaching and developing teachers and middle leaders to achieve excellence.
• Demonstrate a data-driven approach to evaluate teaching and monitor pupil progress.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across the school community.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership across the Prep School.
• Lead quality assurance, professional learning, curriculum innovation and development of outstanding educational practice.
• Drive the continued development of teaching and learning across the school.
• Collaborate with the Head of Prep School and SLT to raise attainment and outcomes.
