What the role entails
As the Junior Media Relations Executive, you will play a pivotal role in managing and strengthening relationships with Arabic media outlets. The position requires good communication skills in Arabic and English, a deep understanding of the media landscape in the GCC region, and expertise in executing media strategies to enhance client visibility.
Responsibilities
- Media Relations
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Arabic media professionals, including journalists, editors, and influencers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and proactively pitch stories to Arabic media outlets along with responding to journalist queries.
- Organise and attend media briefings, press conferences, and networking events to foster relationships.
Content Creation
- Draft press releases, media kits, listings, newsflashes, pitch emails, interview briefings, op-eds, social media content, etc. for various clients, ensuring linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance.
- Edit and localise English content for Arabic audiences, maintaining consistency with client messaging.
Media Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor Arabic media coverage and report on key insights, campaign performance, and PR outcomes.
- Analyse trends in the Arabic media landscape to identify new opportunities for clients.
- Monitor media coverage and report results to the wider team and clients where needed.
- Regularly update and maintain the Arabic Media database.
Event Management & Client Servicing
- Coordinate press launches and drops.
- Coordinate and attend client events and provide hands-on support to ensure smooth execution of events.
- Support clients during events, interviews, and press conferences, including preparation and coordination with media.
Who you are
Ideally you will have:
- Qualification: a recognised tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism.
- Language proficiency: native-level fluency in Arabic (written and spoken) and strong command of English.
- Media landscape knowledge: in-depth understanding of GCC and broader MENA media dynamics, platforms and trends.
- Communication Skills: strong interpersonal and communication skills for building media and client relationships.
- Writing Expertise: ability to craft compelling, culturally appropriate content in Arabic.
- Organisational Skills: ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines efficiently.
