WSP is seeking an Engineer - Power System Studies with over 10 years of experience providing technical leadership on projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget adherence. The role involves acting as the primary technical contact for clients in the Middle East and participating in business development activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform power system analysis for transmission and distribution projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, masterplans, dispatch studies, renewable integration, and grid code reviews.
- Prepare renewable generation connection schemes, optimizing techno-economic aspects.
- Perform load flow studies, fault level calculations, harmonic, voltage stability, and transient stability analyses using DIgSILENT, PSS/E, PLEXOS, ETAP, PSCAD.
- Review technical submittals related to power system studies from EPC contractors and developers.
- Ensure compliance with Transmission Codes and international standards.
- Review power system models developed by EPC contractors.
- Attend meetings, address technical clarifications, and participate in FAT & SAT visits to verify grid compliance, utilizing RTDS or similar tools.
- Review updated models post-FAT/SAT to confirm grid compliance.
- Conduct various studies including reactive power, grid impact, stability, insulation coordination, harmonics, relay settings, and sub-synchronous resonance.
- Maintain strong knowledge of power system modeling, report preparation, and interactions with grid operators, especially within the ME region.
- Lead project execution and contribute to new business acquisition.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
- Proficiency with power system study software.
- Willingness to contribute to bids and proposals.
- Availability to travel internationally for client interactions.
- Experience in power system studies for transmission and distribution projects.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to foster client relations and coordinate across disciplines.
