Job summary

SYSTRA is seeking a Power Supply Manager to lead all aspects of traction, auxiliary, and emergency power systems for an important UAE high-speed rail project. You will oversee design reviews, coordinate with clients and authorities, and drive value engineering while ensuring safety and compliance across the project lifecycle.

The role requires 15+ years in rail power supply design/management, fluency in English, and a track record of international project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's or PMP is an advantage.
• Minimum 15 years' experience in design and management of power supply systems for rail infrastructure, with emphasis on rail/high-speed rail.
• Experience in GCC/UAE and familiarity with local regulations is highly desired.
• Fluency in English with strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead power supply projects from concept design to commissioning and handover.
• Review designs and provide consultancy to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and railway standards.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, and internal teams for smooth execution.
• Assess feasibility studies, technical proposals, and tender documents; recommend value engineering solutions.
• Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, environmental standards, and railway best practices.
• Manage budgets, resources, schedules, and risk registers for power supply sub-projects.
• Develop and monitor QA/QC plans, testing strategies, and HSE protocols for power systems.
• Provide regular progress reports and technical documentation to project teams and senior management.
• Mentor junior engineers and support operational readiness and handover activities.

Power Supply Manager

Missions/Main Duties

• Project Leadership: Manage all aspects of power supply systems (traction, auxiliary, emergency power) for the high-speed rail project from concept design to commissioning and handover.
• Design Review & Consultancy: Oversee and support the design of power supply solutions, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards of UAE and international railway norms.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, authorities, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution and integration of power supply systems.
• Technical Assessments: Evaluate feasibility studies, technical proposals, and tender documents; recommend best practices and value engineering solutions.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure all power supply works comply with local statutory requirements, environmental standards, and railway best practices.
• Budget & Scheduling: Prepare and manage budgets, resources, project schedules, and risk registers for power supply sub-projects.
• Quality Assurance: Develop and monitor QA/QC plans, testing and commissioning strategies, and HSE protocols related to power systems.
• Reporting: Provide regular progress reports, technical documentation, and presentations to project teams and senior management.
• Training & Support: Mentor junior engineers, facilitate knowledge transfer, and support operational readiness and handover activities.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree or PMP certification is an advantage.

Background

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in the design and management of power supply systems for rail infrastructure, with a strong focus on rail/high-speed rail.
• Proven track record in project management within international consultancy or major infrastructure projects.
• In-depth knowledge of traction power, substations, overhead catenary, SCADA, and associated safety standards.
• Experience working in the GCC/UAE and familiarity with local regulations is highly desired.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with FIDIC contract framework and project controls tools.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software (ETAP, AutoCAD, BIM, MS Project, etc.).
• Multicultural team management experience.
• Fluency in English.
