Post: Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Hydrogen Technologies and Energy Systems
Position Summary
To conduct advanced multidisciplinary research on the development of power systems-integrated water electrolyzers for green hydrogen production and sustainable electricity generation. The project will focus on the design, modeling, and optimization of nanocomposite hydrogen-bonded membranes for fuel cells and the integration of these technologies into renewable energy systems. The fellow will contribute across various domains including chemical engineering, membrane science, computational modeling, and energy systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and develop nanocomposite membranes for hydrogen fuel cells.
- Conduct material synthesis and membrane fabrication experiments.
- Conduct lifecycle and sustainability analyses of membrane technologies.
- Publish research outcomes in leading peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to writing technical reports and grant deliverables.
- Mentor and collaborate with graduate students and junior researchers.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Participate in organizing conferences and workshops.
Qualifications And Skills Required
- PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field with a focus on hydrogen.
- Solid track record of peer-reviewed publications in hydrogen and fuel cells.
- Proven experience in membrane fabrication, nanocomposite materials, or fuel cell system design.
- Strong background in polymer chemistry, proton conductivity, and hydrogen bonding for PEM applications.
- Experience in membrane fabrication and functionalization using natural polymers (e.g., chitosan, cellulose).
- Proficiency in key characterization techniques (e.g., FTIR, SEM, XRD, EIS, TGA).
- Understanding of dual-operation PEM systems (electrolyzer and fuel cell modes).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- High degree of independence, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
- Background in interdisciplinary areas of materials science, energy systems, and fuel cell technology
- Prior research involvement in projects involving fuel cells and the integration of hydrogen technologies with renewable energy systems
- Experience in supervising or mentoring graduate-level researchers
