Position Summary
To conduct advanced research in multi-energy sectors and smart grids as part of a project funded by EWSERC at the American University of Sharjah. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for the modeling, analysis, and optimization of different energy systems (renewable resources, data centers, EVs, desalination, energy storage) and smart grid integration.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct cutting-edge research on multi-energy systems, including renewable energy, data centers, desalination systems, EVs, and energy storage integration.
- Develop and implement optimization models for efficient smart grid operation.
- Perform simulation-based studies to evaluate energy system interactions and performance.
- Publish research outcomes in leading peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to writing technical reports and grant deliverables.
- Mentor and collaborate with graduate students and junior researchers.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Participate in organizing conferences and workshops.
Qualifications And Skills Required
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field with a focus on energy systems.
- Solid track record of peer-reviewed publications in energy systems and smart grids.
- Advanced skills in optimization techniques, simulation tools, and modeling frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of power systems, energy system integration, and optimization.
- Familiarity with simulation platforms (e.g., MATLAB, Python, GAMS, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- High degree of independence, initiative, and problem-solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
- Background in interdisciplinary energy applications such as EVs, data centers, and desalination systems.
- Prior research experience in projects involving renewable energy, energy storage, or EVs.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring graduate-level researchers.
