Job description

Description

The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a motivated Postdoctoral Associate to work under the supervision of Prof. QurratUlAin Nadeem on the physical layer design of programmable metasurfaces-enabled wireless communication systems.

The candidate will investigate the role of programmable metasurfaces as reconfigurable holographic surfaces (RHSs) to enable ultramassive/holographic MIMO communication systems and as reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) to enable controlled reflections of electromagnetic waves in the propagation environment. The candidate is expected to conduct cutting-edge research on the physical layer design and optimization of RHS-enabled or RIS-assisted MIMO communication systems using tools from information theory, statistical signal processing, optimization theory, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The candidate will also participate in experimental work focused on building datasets of channel measurements for RIS-enabled communication environments, as well as processing and analyzing the collected data.

Qualifications
  • PhD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of publications in IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Signal Processing Society journals and conferences.
  • Strong background in communication theory, signal processing, machine learning, and optimization theory.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to pursue independent research.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with software-defined radios and experimental testbeds for wireless communication systems.
  • Research background in reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, massive MIMO, integrated space-air-ground networks, or related areas.
Application Process

Applications are accepted immediately, and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. All applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae with a full publication list, transcripts of Master's and PhD degrees, research statement, and contact details of at least three references, all in PDF format via Interfolio.

Benefits

The terms of employment are highly competitive and include substantial benefits such as generous housing, transportation, and travel allowances, educational subsidies for children, medical insurance, and relocation benefits.
