We are looking for a proactive PoS Support Engineer to manage and support our in-house PoS (Point of Sale) production environment. The role involves handling day-to-day production issues, performing system maintenance, supporting deployment activities, and ensuring the stability and performance of PoS systems across internal business units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve in-house PoS system production issues.
- Perform system diagnostics and apply necessary patches, fixes, or configurations.
- Work closely with internal IT teams and application teams to escalate and resolve complex issues.
- Ensure the health and stability of PoS hardware and software systems in the production environment.
- Support testing and deployment of new PoS system updates, patches, and enhancements.
- Analyze logs, identify recurring issues, and suggest corrective actions or process improvements.
- Maintain detailed documentation for issue resolutions, change management, and system configurations.
- Coordinate with internal departments to gather system feedback and implement improvements.
- Assist in rollout activities for new features, system migrations, or infrastructure upgrades.
- Perform regular system health checks, preventive maintenance, and capacity planning.
- Support integration of PoS systems with internal applications and backend services.
- Ensure compliance with internal IT policies, security standards, and operational guidelines.
Technical Skills Required:
- Strong experience in Windows operating systems (both Server and Desktop environments).
- Solid understanding of PoS architecture, components, and in-house deployment practices.
- Hands-on experience with PoS hardware (terminals, printers, barcode scanners, payment devices).
- Basic SQL knowledge for querying databases and troubleshooting transactional issues.
- Experience with remote monitoring, system administration tools, and incident management systems.
- Understanding of basic networking (IP configuration, switches, VPN, firewalls related to PoS networks).
Preferred Skills (Good to Have):
- Previous experience managing PoS production environments in retail or corporate settings.
- Familiarity with database administration, basic scripting (PowerShell, Batch scripting).
- Exposure to incident management and change control processes (ITIL practices preferred).
- Knowledge of integration between PoS systems and ERP/back-office applications.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to document technical processes clearly and accurately.
- Good communication skills for effective coordination within internal teams.
- Self-motivated with a focus on continuous improvement.
