Job summary

Wood is seeking an experienced PMC Senior Supervisor, OPS Support - Mechanical to oversee all on-site mechanical activities for high-profile energy projects in the UAE. The role demands ensuring installation, testing, and commissioning meet project specs, budgets, and safety standards.

You will lead contractors, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, monitor progress against schedules, and drive HSE compliance on site.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma with 15 years of Oil & Gas industry experience.
  • Must have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, with a strong command of the English language.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee installation, erection, and maintenance of mechanical equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, piping systems).
  • Ensure IFC drawings, specifications, and project requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
  • Track progress and report daily, weekly, and monthly.

The key objectives for this role are:
  • Guarantee that all mechanical systems (piping, rotating equipment, static equipment) are installed, tested, and commissioned in line with project specifications and international standards.
  • Supervise and guide contractors/subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and quality execution of mechanical works onsite.
  • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements, ensuring zero incidents and promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Monitor mechanical activities against project timelines, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to avoid delays.

Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
  • Mechanical Supervision
    • Oversee installation, erection, and maintenance of mechanical equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, piping systems).
    • Ensure compliance with IFC drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
    • Verify correct installation of supports, valves, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Execution & Coordination
    • Supervise contractors and subcontractors for mechanical works.
    • Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and instrumentation teams.
    • Resolve site-related issues and interface with vendors/technical specialists.
  • Testing & Commissioning
    • Monitor hydrostatic/pneumatic testing, flushing, and reinstatement activities.
    • Ensure system readiness for pre-commissioning and commissioning.
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
    • Enforce strict compliance with HSE policies.
    • Conduct toolbox talks, safety inspections, and risk assessments.
    • Stop unsafe practices and ensure corrective actions.
  • Quality Assurance & Control
    • Coordinate inspections with QA/QC teams and client representatives.
    • Ensure closure of NCRs and compliance with international standards.
    • Monitor welding quality, NDT activities, and final acceptance.
  • Planning & Reporting
    • Track progress against schedule and identify delays.
    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
    • Review productivity and workforce utilization.
