Detailed Job Description:

As a Planning Engineer – Power Projects in the UAE, you will take full ownership of planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and delay analysis for complex Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) power substation projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities encompass building resource-loaded critical path method (CPM) schedules using Primavera P6, tracking engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning milestones, and generating comprehensive weekly and monthly executive progress reports. You will collaborate with site managers to identify potential bottlenecks, formulate recovery schedules, evaluate contractor claims, and ensure timely project handover. Working in a fast-paced energy infrastructure environment, you will drive operational efficiency and contractual compliance across multi-million dollar power developments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and manage baseline schedules for 200 kV and above power substation projects (AIS/GIS) using Primavera P6.
• Implement resource loading, cost loading, and critical path method (CPM) network logic across complex engineering schedules.
• Monitor daily and weekly site progress, track milestone achievements, and analyze schedule variances against baseline targets.
• Prepare comprehensive executive progress reports, S-curves, dashboard metrics, and delay mitigation strategies.

• Review contractor schedules, evaluate extension of time (EOT) claims, and perform forensic delay analysis.

• Maintain rigorous documentation of project changes, scope variations, and baseline revisions.
• Support risk management workshops and assist in developing proactive risk mitigation plans for critical path activities.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 7+ years of professional experience in project planning, scheduling, and controls within the power and energy sector.
• Deep specialized expertise in planning and scheduling power substation projects, specifically AIS and GIS installations (200 kV and above).
