Position Overview AECOM is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to join its infrastructure project team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role focuses on project planning, scheduling, progress measurement, programme analysis, and reporting across infrastructure and construction activities. The Planning Engineer will work closely with project management, engineering teams, and the Contractor to monitor programme performance, identify schedule risks and delays, and provide accurate information to support timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and monitor Contractor baseline programmes, schedule updates, and recovery programmes.
• Assess programmes for logical links, resource loading, sequencing, project scope alignment, and contractual compliance.
• Monitor actual progress against the approved programme and identify delays, critical activities, and potential impacts on project completion.
• Prepare and review weekly and monthly progress reports covering planned versus actual progress, key achievements, critical activities, and look-ahead schedules.
• Verify Contractor-reported quantities and progress against actual site conditions.
• Analyse critical paths, float, programme logic, and constraints and recommend measures to mitigate delays.
• Prepare and review 2-week, 3-week, and 4-week look-ahead programmes as required.
• Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, discipline engineers, inspectors, and Contractor planning personnel to obtain accurate progress information.
• Review recovery and mitigation programmes and assess their effectiveness in addressing schedule delays.
• Monitor interfaces between design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and authority approval activities.
• Identify programme risks, constraints, and potential delays and communicate them to the project management team.
• Assist with reviews of Extension of Time submissions, delay events, and time-related claims, including programme impacts and supporting analysis.
• Review programme updates and time impact analyses submitted by the Contractor.
• Maintain project progress dashboards and key performance indicators.
• Prepare progress presentations and communicate planning and schedule information to the project management team and Client.
• Participate in planning, progress, and coordination meetings with the Contractor and project stakeholders.
• Ensure planning and reporting activities follow project procedures, contractual requirements, and reporting standards.

Qualifications and Planning Expertise

• Bachelor 's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
• 7 years of relevant planning and scheduling experience within infrastructure and construction projects.
• Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
• Good understanding of baseline programmes, schedule updates, critical path analysis, resource loading, progress measurement, and delay analysis.
• Experience reviewing Contractor programmes and progress reports.
• Experience with Extension of Time, recovery programmes, delay analysis, and time impact analysis is preferred.
• UAE infrastructure project experience is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams and Contractors.
