Job description

Our client, a leading manufacturer of Instrumentation, Control, Data Cables, Fire Resistant Cables, and Low Voltage Power Cables, is seeking a skilled and motivated Planning Engineer to join their team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop, implement, and manage production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and production capabilities, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate materials, machinery, and workforce to meet production requirements, ensuring optimal resource utilization and minimizing downtime.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and control inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to ensure uninterrupted production flow while minimizing excess stock.
  • Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with the procurement, production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure alignment on production goals, material availability, and maintenance schedules.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Track production performance and provide regular reports on key metrics such as production output, lead times, and resource utilization. Identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to production planning processes to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and optimize resource use.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential production delays or issues and develop contingency plans to mitigate any risks to the production schedule.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure that production schedules align with quality standards and regulatory requirements, working with the Quality Assurance team to resolve any issues that may impact production.
  • Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of production plans, schedules, changes, and performance data for transparency and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field).
  • 3-5 years of experience in production planning or scheduling, ideally in a manufacturing environment (preferably cable manufacturing).
  • Strong understanding of production processes, supply chain management, and resource optimization.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and production planning software.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate data-driven insights.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in cable manufacturing (e.g., control, data, fire-resistant, or low voltage cables).
  • Certification in Production Planning, Supply Chain Management, or Lean Manufacturing (e.g., APICS, Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, demand forecasting, or production optimization tools.
