Job summary

A leading contracting company in Dubai is seeking a Planning Engineer responsible for project planning, monitoring progress, and preparing claims. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in the contracting industry, particularly in finishes.

Job description

Brief: Incumbent will be responsible for overall project planning, follow-up, claims and claim analysis, program updates, subcontractor engineering, materials follow-up as per schedule, and project document close-out.

Job Description:

  1. Develop the most appropriate method and sequence of construction operations for specific projects in conjunction with the Site Manager.
  2. Plan and oversee the entire work program, anticipating contractual demands related to labor, materials, equipment, and technical challenges.
  3. Present work schedules, often using visual aids such as bar charts and procedural diagrams.
  4. Create CL-14 programs using available drawings and information; discuss these programs with the Project Manager or Planning Manager.
  5. Establish the critical path and monitor changes regularly, ensuring the validity of the critical path in subcontractors’ programs.
  6. Finalize and submit the program to clients/consultants and distribute internally.
  7. Update the CL-14 program regularly by collecting data from the site and relevant personnel; get the progress approved by site agents and engineering teams.
  8. Monitor progress throughout construction, compare with the projected schedule, and identify deviations and delays using KPIs.
  9. Assist in preparing delay claim reports.
  10. Collaborate with the Quantity Surveyor in preparing delay and time extension claims.
  11. Liaise with site management leaders throughout the process, making necessary project adjustments.
  12. Regularly review contract documents, drawings, and daily correspondence.
  13. Monitor subcontractors’ progress and attend progress meetings.

Education & Knowledge:

  • Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Planning Engineer in contracting, with preference for experience in finishes.
  • Ability to perform cost analysis and delay analysis.
