Job summary

UpNext UAE is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer in Abu Dhabi to support a leading architecture and engineering consultancy. The role focuses on planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and project controls to ensure timely project delivery.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in developing and maintaining project schedules, conducting risk assessments, and coordinating with contractors to meet milestones. Proficiency in English and MS Office is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • Experience with reputable engineering consultancy in the Gulf region preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and progress reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all project planning and scheduling activities.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules with logical sequencing across disciplines.
  • Establish and implement project progress measurement systems.
  • Monitor schedule execution and ensure consistency across related projects.
  • Conduct schedule risk assessments and recommend mitigations.
  • Collaborate with project management teams, consultants, and contractors to meet milestones.
  • Review contractor submissions related to planning, scheduling, progress measurement, productivity, and EOT.
  • Verify and certify contractor-reported physical progress.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to join a leading Architecture and Engineering consultancy in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and project controls, with the ability to work closely with project teams and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee all project planning and scheduling activities.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring logical sequencing and alignment across all disciplines.
  • Establish and implement project progress measurement systems.
  • Monitor schedule execution to ensure consistency across related projects.
  • Conduct continuous schedule risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate proactively with project management teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Review and analyze contractor submissions related to planning, scheduling, progress measurement, productivity, and time impact analysis.
  • Verify and certify contractor-reported physical progress.
  • Monitor project progress, identify delays or schedule risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze critical and near-critical activities and assess their impact on project completion.
  • Review contractor resource allocation and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Evaluate variation requests and extension of time (EOT) claims, providing recommendations to project management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • Previous experience with a reputable engineering consultancy in the Gulf region is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and progress reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English.
