Job summary

UpNext UAE in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to join our Architecture and Engineering consultancy team. You will lead project planning and scheduling, develop integrated schedules, and ensure cross-disciplinary alignment to deliver on milestones.

The ideal candidate has at least 10 years in planning, strong project controls knowledge, and proven ability to work with contractors and project teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • Experience with reputed Gulf region engineering consultancy preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls and progress reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Planning Engineer to join a leading Architecture and Engineering consultancy in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and project controls, with the ability to work closely with project teams and contractors to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all project planning and scheduling activities.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring logical sequencing and alignment across all disciplines.
  • Establish and implement project progress measurement systems.
  • Monitor schedule execution to ensure consistency across related projects.
  • Conduct continuous schedule risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate proactively with project management teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
  • Review and analyze contractor submissions related to planning, scheduling, progress measurement, productivity, and time impact analysis.
  • Verify and certify contractor-reported physical progress.
  • Monitor project progress, identify delays or schedule risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze critical and near-critical activities and assess their impact on project completion.
  • Review contractor resource allocation and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Evaluate variation requests and extension of time (EOT) claims, providing recommendations to project management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling.
  • Previous experience with a reputable engineering consultancy in the Gulf region is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and progress reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English.
