Job summary

Wood is seeking an experienced professional in the United Arab Emirates to coordinate the preparation and tracking of piping test packs, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, at least 10 years of experience, and expertise in piping test pack documentation and QA/QC processes.

Job description

Job Objective

To coordinate the preparation, tracking, and close‑out of piping test packs to support mechanical completion and commissioning schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all test pack documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Act as the central interface between construction, QA/QC, and commissioning teams for test pack readiness and turnover.
  • Coordinate the preparation and compilation of piping test packs using approved P&IDs, isometric drawings, and line lists.
  • Maintain and manage test pack registers, ensuring accurate tracking of status from preparation through testing and handover.
  • Monitor progress of test packs, highlight delays, constraints and priority systems to project teams.
  • Interface with construction teams to confirm system readiness and mechanical completion prior to testing.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams to ensure all inspections, NDT reports, and documentation are completed and approved.
  • Ensure inclusion of all required documents such as weld maps, material traceability records, and test reports in test packs.
  • Track punch list items and ensure timely closure before test pack acceptance and system handover.
  • Liaise with pre‑commissioning and commissioning teams to align test pack priorities with system turnover schedules.
  • Release piping systems for testing only after verifying documentation completeness and readiness status.
  • Support planning and scheduling of hydrostatic and pneumatic testing activities with relevant stakeholders.
  • Compile and submit completed test pack dossiers for client review and approval.
  • Ensure all test records, certificates, and documentation are properly signed, approved, and archived.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain missing documentation and resolve discrepancies.
  • Provide regular progress reports on test pack status, completion metrics, and bottlenecks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or EPC/PMC project environments.
  • Proven experience in piping test pack preparation, coordination, or QA/QC documentation control.
  • Strong understanding of piping systems, isometric drawings, P&IDs, and line lists.
  • Familiarity with piping codes and standards such as ASMEB31.3 and pressure testing documentation requirements.
  • Experience with QA/QC processes, documentation control, and turnover systems.
  • Proficiency in completion management tools such as WinPCS, SmartPlant, or similar systems.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple test packs and priorities simultaneously under tight project schedules.
  • Effective communication skills to interface with multidisciplinary teams and client representatives.
  • Experience working on large‑scale projects, preferably in the Middle East with major operators or EPC contractors.
