Job description

What you will need to do:

  1. Implement purchasing strategies for piping material requirements, keeping in view the project's timeline and budget.
  2. Liaise with Engineering on the type, specifications, and quantity of materials.
  3. Identify, prequalify, and evaluate suppliers of piping components, pipes, valves, flanges, and fittings.
  4. Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with vendors to achieve cost savings with no compromise on quality.
  5. Maintain relationships with approved suppliers and source new suppliers as necessary.
  6. Prepare and issue purchase orders/contracts while assuring their conformance with technical specifications and project requirements.
  7. Monitor supplier performance and ensure timely delivery of materials. Resolve discrepancies or issues regarding shipment, quality, or documentation.
  8. Ensure that materials purchased meet applicable codes and standards, such as ASME and ASTM, and client requirements.
  9. Liaise with quality control teams to conduct, if necessary, inspections and review material test certificates.

What you will need to have:

  1. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.
  2. Experience: 5+ years in procurement, preferably in piping material for the oil and gas industry.
  3. Familiarity with international procurement practices and Incoterms.
  4. Strong knowledge of piping systems, materials, and standards including ASME, ANSI, and API.
  5. Proficiency in procurement tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
