Job summary

Candidate should hold a Phlebotomy certificate or related health degree, have UAE licensing, and be fluent in English. Arabic is a plus; readiness to work various shifts is expected.

Qualifications

• Currently licensed to practice in UAE (DOH/DHA/MOH) from country of origin.
• Fluent in English; Arabic a plus.
• Willingness to learn automation and IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform the work as assigned meeting ISO 15189:2022/EIAC/JCI standards.
• Perform Blood Draws: collect blood specimens from patients.
• Patient Identification: verify patient information and label samples correctly.
• Prepare and Maintain Equipment: ensure tools are sterile and functioning.
• Patient Comfort and Care: provide a calm, safe environment for patients.
• Maintain Cleanliness: follow hygiene protocols in work areas.
• Record and Document Information: document patient data and procedures.
• Transport Samples: move specimens to the appropriate labs for analysis.

• Performing the work, which is assigned, ensuring that it meets all standards as required by ISO 15189:2022/EIAC Standards/JCI/regulatory bodies (DOH/DHA/MOH where applicable).
• Perform Blood Draws: Collect blood specimens from patients using venipuncture, capillary, or fingerstick methods.
• Patient Identification: Verify patient information and ensure correct labelling of samples to avoid errors.
• Prepare and Maintain Equipment: Ensure all necessary tools and equipment are sterile, organized, and properly functioning.
• Patient Comfort and Care: Ensure a calm, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, addressing any concerns or anxieties.
• Maintain Cleanliness: Follow proper hygiene protocols, maintaining cleanliness in work areas and equipment.
• Record and Document Information: Accurately document patient information, procedures performed, and specimens collected.
• Transport Samples: Safely and efficiently transport specimens to the appropriate laboratories for analysis.
• Follow Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the handling and disposal of biohazard materials.
• Monitor Patient Reactions: Observe patients during and after procedures for any adverse reactions and report concerns to supervisors.
• Communicate with Medical Staff: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and laboratory technicians to ensure accurate and timely results.
• Maintain Confidentiality: Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines regarding personal health information.

General Responsibilities

• Work in all shifts as scheduled by the Laboratory Director.
• Strictly adheres to organization’s regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety, OSHAD, DOH, JCI and ISO.
• Supports Continuous Quality Improvement and participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service.
• Participates and contributes to scheduled in-service training programs.
• Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates and Management
• Maintains confidentiality as per the agreement signed.
• Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
• Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.
• Carries out other duties when requested by the Laboratory Director

Qualifications

• Certificate of training in an approved Phlebotomy program or Diploma (1 year) Medical Laboratory Technology or Degree in any health-related field.
• Minimum of one (1) year practical experience as Phlebotomist in a reputed Medical Laboratory Not less than two (2) years of Medical Laboratory experience.
• Currently licensed in country of origin and with DOH/DHA/MOH license to practice in UAE.
• Fluent in spoken & written English, Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.
• Ability to learn and handle automation & IT programs is desirable but not essential
