Project Overview :

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary :

In this role, you will lead the development of environmental systems, applications, and procedures for a project. You will lead investigations, conduct complex environmental engineering studies, prepare remediation plans, and evaluate proposed regulations. You will research and develop new technologies and practices and recommend solutions to improve the environmental impact of engineering projects.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews environmental engineering work on a medium sizeproject or assignment in support of a global business unit.
  • Develops environmental systems, applications, andprocedures
  • Conducts complex environmental engineering studies and prepares environmental impact reportsfor new construction projects, plant processes, and permits.Leads complex investigations and prepares remediation work plans and reports
  • Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management
  • Researches and develops new technologies and practices to improve the environmental impact ofengineering projects
  • Monitors pollution prevention activities and leads the design of processes to effectively treat waste
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plans in accordance withproject scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performancereporting
  • Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data
  • Works with industrial health experts to ensure a safe work environment
  • Ensures compliance with government regulations and keeps abreast of new environmentalengineering policies and technologies
  • Mentors environmental engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professionaldevelopment

Education and Experience Requirements :

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills :

  • Knowledge of legal regulations and the regulations associated with permits.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in the development of similar projects
  • Requires bachelor's and 10 and 13 total years experience
  • Knowledge in the estimation of environmental impacts.
  • Estimation of waste, liquid emissions, and atmospheric emissions.
  • Compliance Matrix and Compliance Plan.
  • Experience in prefeasibility and feasibility studies with the development of environmental components.
