About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive People Services Assistant to join our global HR team. This role will play a critical part in delivering high-quality administrative and operational support to colleagues across the UK, Europe, and the US. The successful candidate will assist in a variety of HR processes, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in day-to-day operations.

The role of People Services Assistant is to provide timely and accurate administration and coordinated transactional support, ensuring good practice and the smooth delivery of services across Macro within SLA tolerance and to service excellence standards.

Consistently providing a triage of support, advice and workable solutions for Macro colleagues. Handling queries and managing support via telephone, face-to-face and email, through centralised email and People Connect tickets. Ensuring guidance is provided in line with Macro policy, highlighting complexity and managing up through the line as necessary.

Working proactively with People colleagues, key stakeholders and employees at all levels to effectively support, take ownership, and see each interaction through to final resolution. Ensuring the best employee experience, encouraging a culture where people can be authentic and valued for their contribution, and that quality, inclusion, diversity and engagement is at the forefront of everything we do.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide timely and accurate administrative support across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, transfers, contract changes, and offboarding.
  • Assist in maintaining People systems and records (e.g. Sage), ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Respond to employee queries regarding people policies, benefits, and procedures in a professional and service-oriented manner via email, telephone and our internal ticketing system People Connect.
  • Support compliance with employment laws and internal policies across multiple jurisdictions (UK, EU, and US).
  • Generate standard People documents and letters (e.g., contracts, reference letters, offer letters, promotions and probation confirmations).
  • Collaborate with our external payroll providers, benefits providers, IT, and other internal teams to ensure smooth employee onboarding and offboarding.
  • Provide support and coverage as backup for other People team members during their absence out of the office.
  • Maintain digital People files in line with GDPR and local data privacy regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of People processes and documentation.
  • Support ad hoc HR projects, audits, and reporting needs.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in an HR Assistant or Administrator role, ideally in a multinational environment.
  • High attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with HR systems (e.g., Sage) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact confidently with colleagues across regions.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work effectively to deadlines.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, and able to work independently under pressure.
  • Comfortable within a changing environment and ability to embrace, understand and utilise new technologies.
  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are a plus.
