Overview

As our People & Culture Manager, you will evolve the People Operations, Experience and Engagement function at a critical growth stage of our online crypto casino startup. You will build on the foundational responsibilities supporting the overarching strategy of talent engagement and building our company culture.

You will have the opportunity to support the full people lifecycle by blending practical People related administration from onboarding and offboarding, orientation, payroll and benefits administration, occupational health & safety, wellness, compliance, engagement as well as manage the day to day at the office.

This person will be the on-site representative of the People department and will be a pivotal player in culture-building by driving strategic initiatives and a broad internal communication focus.

You'll play a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and engaging workplace as we scale. Your role is to foster a world-class people experience, ensure regulatory compliance across jurisdictions, and create scalable people systems that support business objectives. You will serve as a culture champion and strategic partner across all departments, helping shape a high-performing, inclusive, and engaging work environment.

This role may evolve into a Head of People and Culture / Head of People Experience, as the company grows.

Key value elements

People Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and lead the execution of the People strategy aligned to business goals with the team
  • Co-own all HR policies, systems, and practices across multiple geographies (e.g., Dubai, Portugal).
  • Act as a strategic business partner to leadership for people-related matters.

Culture & Engagement

  • Manager and internal communication strategies (newsletters, townhalls, intranet communications, cross team comms)
  • Plan virtual and in-person engagement events (awards, team gatherings, meetings and celebrations)
  • Launch our recognition program and feedback loops
  • Foster a values-driven culture of psychological safety, accountability, inclusion and well being
  • Own DEI initiatives and wellbeing programme
  • Fully own our engagement survey program
  • Support onboarding / offboarding functions for newcomers and leavers
  • Support creation and deployment of online or in person training and learning development events as needed
Workplace & People Experience
  • Invest in people's experience and satisfaction levels
  • Ensure a safe, productive, and compliant physical / digital workplace
  • Coordinate workspace logistics, health screenings, and certifications
  • Continuously improve people lifecycle processes (onboarding to exit)
Operations, Compliance & Benefits
  • Set up and maintain workspaces and access globally
  • Create reports with KPIs relevant to area of responsibility
  • Support online and physical record keeping, payroll processes, occupational health & safety protocols, insurance obligations, and audits
  • Co-manage travel and logistics
  • Co-manage people benefits, well-being programs, registration of team members as well as related work permits and visa issuances and renewals
  • Ensure local labour law compliance and support global employment frameworks
  • Manage office related subscriptions, tools and vendors
  • Manage office assets and functions related to equipment, maintenance, compliance and resources. Implement health and safety measures and ensure compliance with local laws (e.g., Portugal)
  • Coordinate occupational health screenings and accident insurance coverage
  • Schedule and manage OHS training (remote and on-site)
  • Conduct internal OHS audits and ensure certifications (if required) are up to date
  • Act as the primary liaison for reporting and handling workplace incidents
Experience & Background Required
  • Leadership experience in managing HR or People teams and partnering with senior management on strategic people matters
  • Proven ability to foster a values-driven, inclusive, and psychologically safe culture, including experience with engagement programs, recognition initiatives, DEI, and well-being strategies
  • Strong operational expertise in onboarding / offboarding, employee lifecycle management, workplace experience, benefits administration, payroll, compliance, and health & safety
  • Skilled in internal communications, event planning, and continuous improvement of people processes to enhance employee experience
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in fast-paced, multi-cultural, remote or hybrid environments
