Job summary

Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in Dubai seeks an Inspector to conduct EHS inspections, review permits and ensure compliance across its jurisdictions. You will perform routine and random inspections, prepare high-quality reports and advise clients on applicable regulations.

Required: at least two years of inspection or regulatory compliance experience and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or related field.

Qualifications

• Required (Minimum Experience): A minimum of two years' experience in inspection, regulatory compliance, public health and safety or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct various types of inspections, including routine, random, NOC Activity Verification (AV) and management-directed inspections, to verify compliance with applicable Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and requirements.
• Prepare accurate, comprehensive and high-quality inspection reports, identifying EHS violations and issuing inspection reports to non-compliant establishments in an impartial and consistent manner. Review facility inspection history and verify relevant permits as part of the inspection process.
• Ensure adherence to approved inspection schedules, follow-up requirements and established service completion times.
• Participate in joint inspections with relevant departments to support the issuance or renewal of Operation Fitness Certificates and NOC Activity Verification Certificates for health establishments.
• Investigate complaints relating to improper labelling, inappropriate storage of health-related items, disease outbreaks and other public health concerns, identifying root causes and recommending appropriate preventive and corrective measures.
• Implement regulatory and enforcement actions, including the issuance of warnings, penalties and prohibitions, in accordance with applicable regulations and procedures to ensure safe and compliant operations within the jurisdiction.
• Support the Trakhees Accreditation Section in the accreditation of employees working within salons, spas, relaxation centres and other relevant health establishments.
• Coordinate and supervise the disposal and destruction of unfit or confiscated items in collaboration with relevant departments and competent authorities.
• Review applications and provide initial approvals for new licences relating to public health and safety activities, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Review and process applications for certificates of approval for health-related third-party service providers, and issue or reject applications in accordance with established requirements.
• Respond to public health and safety enquiries from clients by email and telephone, ensuring that accurate and timely information is provided.
• Provide guidance to clients on applicable public health and safety regulations and requirements to support compliance.

The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) was officially established in 2001, under the authority of the Dubai Government. There are a number of entities and institutions operating under its umbrella, including Port Rashid, Jebel Ali Port, Al Hamriya Port, which are managed by Dubai Ports Authority, in addition to the Department of Planning and Development - Trakhees, the Dubai Maritime Authority and the Office of the Marine Agency for Wooden Dhows, as well as the investment arm and security arm of the corporation, represented by Investment Department and Security Department.
