Post: Part-Time IT Specialist
Position Summary
The P/T IT Support Specialist delivers high-quality IT assistance to faculty, staff, and students, combining technical expertise with exceptional customer service. This front-line role ensures smooth IT operations across the university by resolving issues, providing guidance, and maintaining IT systems.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, user-focused support services to students, faculty, and staff by following best practices in IT service management.
- Ensure timely resolution and minimal impact on operations by prioritizing requests and incidents.
- Proactively manage IT support requests and incidents to maintain business continuity and minimize operational disruption through effective prioritization and resolution.
- Manage and support endpoint devices (Windows, Mac, Linux), automate desktop deployment solutions, and provide support for application virtualization.
- Deliver IT orientation sessions and workshops to staff and faculty on classroom technologies and applications.
- Deliver high-quality services in collaboration with internal IT teams (Infrastructure, Applications, InfoSec, and Network).
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving LMS, productivity tools, operating systems, hardware, software, academic services, local networks (wired and wireless), video conferencing and collaboration tools, video streaming, digital technologies, lecture capture, Google Workspace, Office 365, and other educational technologies.
- Create and maintain documentation, such as knowledge bases, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and deployment checklists.
Qualifications And Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
Minimum Five years of relevant experience in a similar function/role.Skills & Competencies:- Experience in a higher education IT environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and effectively with faculty, staff, and students on the use of technology.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-demand environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Technical Skills:
- Good working knowledge of Windows, macOS, Linux, and academic software.
- Knowledge of academic technologies (e.g., LMS, lecture capture systems).
- Familiarity with IoT, AI, big data analytics, cloud computing, R, and Python.
- Proven experience with automated desktop deployment solutions.
