Job description

Based at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi, within the Engineering Department, the Painter is responsible for maintaining and repairing all aspects of the hotel's painting works in accordance with Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental standards to achieve optimum product quality. The Painter reports to the Assistant Manager - Maintenance.

As a Painter, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Providing guidance and assistance to the painting team
  2. Providing necessary training, arranging tools and materials for the team
  3. Estimating and planning work requirements based on priority and operational needs
  4. Painting and polishing various types of furniture, wooden or gypsum panels, and false ceilings
  5. Repairing and re-painting HOH metal doors and frames
  6. Inspecting and maintaining public areas periodically
  7. Maintaining the gold leaf and decorative works in the lobby and guest areas
  8. Ensuring that the supplied uniform is clean and in good repair, and maintaining a professional appearance before entering guest rooms or public areas
  9. Keeping the plant room, workshop, and related areas clean and tidy
  10. Observing prescribed safety standards to help maintain safe conditions for self and others
  11. Performing related duties and special projects as assigned
  12. Interacting with other departments when necessary to provide additional or specialized services for functions and festivities

As a Painter, we expect from you:

  • Minimum of two years of previous experience in the same role in a luxury hotel; resort experience is a plus
  • Secondary school certificate and/or vocational training in painting and decorating
  • Knowledge of various construction materials and their appropriate usage
  • Knowledge of various paints and their application for specific jobs
  • Skills to adapt paint mixtures to match existing surfaces
  • Knowledge of spray painting techniques
