Overview

Packing Carpenter

Responsibilities

• Construct and secure materials to make framework and wood containers.
• Build or fix cabinets, doors, structures, floors, and other wooden components used in buildings, using woodworking equipment, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures at ground level or above.
• Shape or cut materials to defined measurements using hand tools, devices, or power saws.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Remove damaged or defective components or sections of frameworks and repair or replace them using hand tools.
• Inspect ceiling or flooring tiles, wall treatments, siding, glass, or woodwork to identify damaged or broken structures.
• Move needed materials around the job site as assigned.
• Clean up worksite debris.

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma is an asset.
• 4 years of experience in industrial or domestic woodworking.
• Ability to understand schematic layouts, plans, sketches, work plans, and other requirements.
• Strong working knowledge of job site safety and ability to adhere to a company-specific safety program.
