Job summary

SEHA seeks a Hospital Coder to navigate patient health records and encoder systems to assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for outpatient and ED records, ensuring charges align with documentation. You will consult references, apply UAE coding guidelines, collaborate with physicians and Revenue Cycle teams, and address denials or discrepancies while upholding SEHA policies.

Required: BS in Health Information Management or coding credential set (CCS/CCS-P/CPC variants) and extensive knowledge

Qualifications

• BS in Health Information Management preferred.
• Must have one of CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CPC-H/CPC-P certifications.
• Extensive knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle systems.
• Ability to analyze physician documentation to determine diagnoses and procedures.
• Ability to utilize encoder software and online references for coding.

Responsibilities

• Assigns ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for outpatient and ED records.
• Adheres to official coding guidelines for accuracy and completeness.
• Interacts with physicians to obtain needed coding information.
• Uses encoder and coding references to assign codes.
• Ensures charges reflect documentation and UAE regulations.
• Collaborates with Revenue Cycle Management to resolve issues.
• Investigates denials and appeals as directed.
• Maintains knowledge of coding and reimbursement guidelines.
