We are seeking an experienced OT/ICS Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity controls across industrial Operational Technology environments. This is a hands-on engineering role working across DCS, SCADA, PLC, and industrial networks, with responsibility for securing OT infrastructure, implementing cybersecurity technologies, monitoring security events, and supporting OT projects through testing, commissioning, and operational handover. You will work closely with Operations, Automation/Control Engineering, IT Security, Telecom, Maintenance, Engineering teams, and technology vendors. Experience within industrial or critical-infrastructure environments (e.g., Oil & Gas, energy, utilities, power, water, petrochemical, manufacturing, or other process-control environments) is important.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity controls across OT/ICS and Process Control System environments.
- Secure DCS, SCADA, PLC, HMI, engineering workstations, servers, and industrial networks.
- Configure and support OT security technologies, including industrial firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, patching, SIEM, VPN/secure remote access, and network monitoring solutions.
- Implement OT network segmentation and secure architectures using recognized industrial security principles.
- Monitor security events and logs, investigate suspicious activity, and support OT incident response.
- Conduct OT security and vulnerability assessments and implement appropriate remediation.
- Apply system hardening, access control, backup, and secure configuration requirements across OT environments.
- Support cybersecurity requirements during FAT, SAT, commissioning, site implementation, and vendor activities.
- Work with automation vendors and control-system OEMs to ensure cybersecurity requirements are correctly implemented.
- Maintain OT asset information, security configurations, and technical documentation.
- Support compliance with ISA/IEC 62443, NIST, and applicable UAE cybersecurity requirements.
- Act as a technical OT cybersecurity SME for engineering, operations, and project teams.
Experience We’re Looking For
- Approximately 6+ years' experience across OT/ICS, industrial automation, or cybersecurity, with significant hands‑on experience specifically in OT/ICS cybersecurity.
- Strong practical understanding of DCS, SCADA, PLC, and industrial control environments.
- Hands‑on experience implementing or supporting OT network security, including firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS, secure remote access, endpoint security, or security monitoring.
- Good understanding of industrial network architecture, including the Purdue Model, zones/conduits, and OT/IT segmentation.
- Experience with one or more major control‑system environments such as Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson, ABB, Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
- Working knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC/OPC UA, DNP3, PROFINET, or IEC 61850.
- Experience with OT vulnerability management, system hardening, and/or incident response.
- Practical knowledge of ISA/IEC 62443 and recognized OT cybersecurity practices.
- Experience supporting FAT, SAT, commissioning, or industrial project implementation would be advantageous.
- Strong English communication skills and the ability to work with both cybersecurity and engineering/operations teams.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation/Control Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred. Relevant certifications such as GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443, CISSP, CISA, CCNA/CCNP Security, or vendor‑specific OT/security certifications are advantageous but not mandatory where the candidate can demonstrate strong practical OT cybersecurity experience.
Work Environment
The position is based in Abu Dhabi and will involve working across Head Office, operational sites, and vendor/FAT locations. Site travel within Abu Dhabi may be required.
