Summary
This role focuses on advanced surgical and multidisciplinary care for patients with cleft lip and palate conditions. You will lead surgical planning, reconstruction, and long-term management in a tertiary care setting.
Education / Qualification Required
- Basic medical degree from a recognized institution
- Post-qualification certification
- Qualification Source from North America, Western Europe, Australia, or New Zealand.
- USA: American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS)
- Canada: Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Certificate (FRCPS–Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery)
- UK and Ireland: GMC/CCST Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
- Australia and New Zealand: Fellowship from the Royal College (FRACP)
- Western Europe: Equivalent certification to the above
Experience Post-Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery after board/equivalent certification
- Working knowledge of management theories and their application within the Dental department
License
- Current and in good standing medical license to practice in country of residence
- BLS/ACLS certification
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain a clinical schedule to provide timely and comprehensive medical services to patients
- Assume direct responsibility for the patients under medical attendance in the assigned unit
- Examine patients to diagnose bone, joint, ligament or other musculoskeletal problems, including diseases or injuries
- Participate in committees for upgrading services and organization of work within and outside the hospital
- Participate in hospital system quality improvement, risk management programs and activities, including reporting patient occurrences, continuing medical education, and consultation on legal and risk issues
- Perform all relevant interventions related to the field of specialization
- Participate in scheduling of on-call duties and provide on-call services as required
- Participate in assessment and updating of drug, medical supply and equipment needs
- Write, complete and approve medical records and reports for patients
- Provide guidance and counsel to other departments when requested
- Complete and maintain set of clinical privileges
- Comply with revalidation guidelines and standards
- Attend hospital clinical meetings as reasonably requested and participate in any other clinical or administrative activities that further the hospital’s business purpose
- Comply with billing, documentation and related policies, procedures, systems and practices established
- Perform other duties as assigned/directed by the Chief Medical Officer
