Role Context

The Optometrist - Eye Care will support Al‑Futtaim Health and HealthHub Clinics by delivering comprehensive optometry services in a busy community-based outpatient clinic. The role requires accurate visual assessment, refraction, ocular health checks, diagnosis of common visual disorders, corrective lens prescribing, and timely referral of complex cases to ophthalmologists. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment where clinical excellence, patient communication, service efficiency, regulatory compliance, and retail service standards are equally important.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision, and ocular health assessments.
  • Diagnose and manage common eye conditions, visual disorders, and refractive errors within optometry scope of practice.
  • Refer complex or advanced eye conditions to ophthalmologists or appropriate medical specialists when required.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses, including glasses and contact lenses, based on clinical findings and patient requirements.
  • Support contact lens fitting, patient guidance, lens care education, and follow‑up recommendations.
  • Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, treatment options, optical products, and long‑term vision management.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant patient records in line with DHA requirements and internal clinic standards.
  • Manage patient flow efficiently in a busy outpatient environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality of care.
  • Ensure proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and readiness of optometry equipment.
  • Collaborate with ophthalmologists, clinic nurses, reception teams, retail optical staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Follow infection control, patient safety, clinical governance, and regulatory protocols at all times.
  • Support a seamless patient experience by balancing clinical accuracy with service responsiveness.
  • Participate in training, continuous professional development, quality improvement, and clinic service initiatives.
  • Maintain strong communication with patients and colleagues to support continuity of care and customer confidence.
  • Contribute to a patient‑centric healthcare environment focused on trust, accessibility, and high‑quality eye care.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Optometry or a related field.
  • Valid DHA license to practice as an Optometrist.
  • Valid Basic Life Support certification.
  • Minimum 3‑5 years of relevant experience in a clinical optometry, outpatient clinic, or retail optical setting.
  • Strong clinical skills in refraction, contact lens fitting, visual assessment, and eye health screening.
  • Good understanding of common eye conditions, corrective lens prescribing, and patient referral pathways.
  • Excellent patient communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage high patient volumes while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and care quality.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced outpatient clinic environment.
  • Strong computer literacy with familiarity using EMR systems.
