A leading environmental services company in Ras al-Khaimah is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Technician responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems. The role involves conducting lab tests, ensuring compliance with regulations, and performing both preventive and corrective maintenance. Candidates should have an Industrial Training Certificate or Mechanical Engineering Diploma and 3-5 years of experience in wastewater treatment. Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.

Overview

Job Title: Wastewater Treatment Technician

The Wastewater Treatment Technician is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of systems used in treating industrial and/or municipal wastewater. This role ensures that treated water discharged from the facility complies with all relevant environmental, safety, and regulatory standards. Key responsibilities include conducting routine laboratory tests, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting process issues, and performing preventive and corrective maintenance on critical equipment such as pumps, filters, instrumentation, and chemical dosing systems.

Key Responsibilities & Result Areas
  • Adhere strictly to cGMP principles and maintain compliance across all processes.
  • Operate and oversee the performance of wastewater treatment plant equipment, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment, piping, instrumentation, and machinery.
  • Conduct scheduled calibration and upkeep of equipment and collection systems.
  • Ensure efficient and safe treatment processes by maintaining equipment reliability and plant performance.
  • Train team members and new joiners on hazardous chemical handling, process safety, and environmental control measures.
  • Operate laboratory equipment for process control testing and monitoring.
  • Implement process control adjustments, ensuring safe and compliant operations.
  • Perform technical work hands-on, with the ability to complete tasks independently.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation and control systems, including flow meters, recorders, and water quality monitoring devices.
  • Collect, analyze, and report water quality samples in line with environmental regulations.
  • Maintain detailed logs and documentation, including daily operational data, accident reports, and inspection results.
  • Monitor all construction or maintenance activities to ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.
  • Oversee daily operations of a 700 m³/day combined residential and industrial wastewater treatment facility.
  • Perform facility inspections and contribute to internal audits and safety checks.
  • Maintain all reports, records, and documentation related to preventive maintenance (PM) plans and environmental standards.
  • Provide technical assistance on plant process issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Be available for on-call duty during emergencies.

Qualifications / Experience / Functional Knowledge
  • Industrial Training Certificate (Fitter) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in wastewater treatment, preferably within pharmaceutical, industrial, or food sectors.
  • Experience in reviewing operational logs, On-the-Job Training (OJT) documents, monthly reports, and SAP-based maintenance activities.
  • Strong working knowledge of GED, engineering tools, plant spare parts, and inventory control practices.
  • Familiarity with SAP PM modules for maintenance and asset management.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Good command of spoken and written English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
