Cupping Therapy Practitioner (Hijama Therapist)

Position Summary
The Cupping Therapy Practitioner provides safe, hygienic, and effective cupping (Hijjma) treatments to patients/clients in a clinical or wellness setting. The practitioner evaluates client needs, explains procedures, performs wet or dry cupping sessions, and ensures compliance with UAE health authority regulations (MOHAP/DOH/DHA as applicable).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient consultations to assess medical history, contraindications, and suitability for cupping therapy.
- Explain treatment plans, expected outcomes, and after-care instructions to clients.
- Perform dry, wet, and/or fire cupping techniques according to recognized therapeutic protocols and in line with health authority regulations.
- Maintain strict infection-control standards including sterilization of equipment and disposal of medical waste.
- Record patient data, treatment details, and follow-up notes in compliance with medical documentation requirements.
- Monitor patient response during and after the session and handle any adverse reactions promptly.
- Educate patients on lifestyle modifications and complementary health practices when appropriate.
- Coordinate with physicians, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals for integrated patient care.
- Ensure the treatment room and equipment meet all cleanliness, safety, and DOH/MOH standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Recognized Cupping/Hijama certification or Unani Medicine license (as required by UAE health authorities).
- Valid MOHAP/DOH/DHA license or eligibility letter to practice in the UAE.
- Minimum 1–2 years of practical experience in cupping therapy or alternative medicine.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and infection-control protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal and patient-care skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly.
- Fluency in Arabic & Good in English
Physical & Work Conditions
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive manual tasks.
- Flexible schedule including evenings/weekends as required by clinic operations.
