Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Subsea Engineering, Ocean Engineering or related field.
  • 5–9 years of offshore operations experience.
  • Strong understanding of offshore operational planning, vessel operations, risk management and HSE requirements.
  • Experience supporting offshore mobilizations, readiness reviews, SIMOPS, PTW systems and MoC processes.
  • Knowledge of offshore survey, subsea construction, IRM or marine support operations is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and coordination of offshore campaigns by developing resource plans, equipment readiness schedules, vessel requirements and timelines.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures, method statements, risk assessments, lift plans and safe systems of work.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, vessel management, offshore personnel and subcontractors for timely deployment of resources.
  • Monitor offshore performance, identify issues and support timely corrective actions.
  • Prepare mobilization documentation, PTW, toolbox talks, SIMOPS planning and readiness packages.
  • Act as interface with clients during campaigns and support progress reporting and technical discussions.
  • Monitor KPIs, analyze project performance data and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in readiness reviews, MoC processes and pre-campaign planning to meet requirements.
  • Support development and improvement of operational management systems, procedures and standards.

Job description

Black & Grey HR is seeking an Operations Engineer – Offshore & Subsea to join our client's offshore operations team based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This is a permanent office‑based role with regular offshore and field travel during project campaigns, supporting the planning, coordination, and technical execution of offshore survey and subsea operations.

You will be responsible for bridging engineering and offshore operations, ensuring operational readiness, technical compliance, and efficient execution of offshore campaigns. Working closely with project managers, vessel teams, offshore personnel, logistics, and clients, you will support the successful delivery of survey, subsea, and marine operations while driving continuous improvement across operational processes and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning and coordination of offshore campaigns by developing resource plans, equipment readiness schedules, vessel requirements, and operational timelines to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop, review, and maintain operational procedures, method statements, risk assessments, lift plans, and safe systems of work in accordance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with project engineers, vessel management, offshore personnel, logistics teams, and subcontractors to ensure the timely deployment of equipment, personnel, and project resources.
  • Monitor offshore operational performance throughout project execution, identifying technical issues, operational risks, schedule deviations, and resource constraints while supporting timely corrective actions.
  • Prepare and coordinate pre‑mobilization documentation, including mobilization checklists, Permit to Work (PTW) documentation, toolbox talks, SIMOPS planning, and operational readiness packages.
  • Act as a key interface with clients during offshore campaigns, supporting operational planning meetings, daily progress reporting, technical discussions, approvals, and execution updates.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, analyse project performance data, and contribute to lessons learned, after‑action reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives across offshore operations.
  • Participate in operational readiness reviews, Management of Change (MoC) processes, and pre‑campaign planning activities to ensure all technical, operational, and safety requirements are achieved prior to offshore execution.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational management systems, procedures, standards, and best practices across survey and subsea operations.
  • Promote compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, industry regulations, and international offshore standards while fostering a strong operational safety culture.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Subsea Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5–9 years of experience in offshore operations, marine operations engineering, subsea projects, or offshore survey operations.
  • Strong understanding of offshore operational planning, vessel operations, project execution, risk management, and HSE requirements.
  • Experience supporting offshore mobilizations, operational readiness reviews, SIMOPS, Permit to Work systems, and Management of Change (MoC) processes.
  • Knowledge of offshore survey, subsea construction, IRM, or marine support operations is highly desirable.
  • Excellent coordination, stakeholder management, technical reporting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary project teams in dynamic offshore environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting or project management systems is preferred.
Certifications
  • Valid BOSIET or HUET certification.
  • ADNOC operational access approval, or the ability to obtain it, is highly advantageous.
  • DP Awareness or DP Operator certification is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of IMCA guidelines and offshore industry best practices is preferred.
