Job description

A great opportunity for an Arabic Speaker to join an Oil Trading Firm in Dubai as a Financial Accoutant.

The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Professional Accounting Certification (e.g., CA, CPA, ACCA, CMA) is often highly desirable or mandatory.

You should be familiar with the mechanisms of oil trading, including how oil prices fluctuate, how to account for commodity contracts, and how trading deals are structured.

Knowledge of shipping operations, including freight charges, fuel costs, chartering agreements, and port handling costs. An understanding of the Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) commonly used in shipping contracts is essential.

Oil and shipping companies might have complex revenue recognition policies, particularly when dealing with long-term contracts, joint ventures, or fluctuating shipping rates.

Preparation of balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and comprehensive financial analysis. Being able to produce and analyze financial reports specific to oil trading and shipping operations is critical.

Ability to track and manage costs related to oil procurement, transportation, and storage. Cost accounting in shipping can be particularly challenging due to fluctuating fuel prices and port charges.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Ability to prepare and manage budgets for oil and shipping operations, including forecasting oil prices, shipping demand, and associated costs.

Oil Trading Experience: 3-5 Prior experience in oil trading or within the energy sector, ideally with exposure to financial aspects of the trading cycle.

Exposure to International Markets: Since oil trading and shipping often deal with global transactions, experience with international financial reporting standards (IFRS), foreign exchange rates, and international trade compliance is valuable.

Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flows from international payments, shipping activities, and trade receivables.
