Job summary

Abu Dhabi Airports Group. is seeking an Officer Baggage Handling System (BHS) to oversee daily baggage operations across all terminals in Abu Dhabi.

The role manages resource planning, coordinates maintenance, and supports continuity plans to ensure uninterrupted baggage services. The candidate should have a Bachelor's in Operations and at least 2 years in baggage system and ramp operations, with knowledge of GCAA regulations and IATA procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

The Officer Baggage Handling System (BHS) is responsible for overseeing the daily baggage handling operations across all Abu Dhabi International Airport terminals. The role ensures efficient allocation and planning of baggage resources for arrivals and departures, coordinates maintenance activities, implements contingency and business continuity plans, and supports uninterrupted baggage operations. The position also liaises with internal and external stakeholders, monitors operational performance, manages baggage system issues, and contributes to maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Support BHS Operations & Maintenance Supervisors and Control Room Operators in achieving departmental goals.
• Oversee day-to-day BHS operations and report/escalate operational non-conformities to management.
• Ensure compliance with airport policies, procedures, relevant standards, and legal regulations.
• Proactively manage BHS resources and conduct inspections to ensure operational safety.
• Attend operational meetings and provide updates on BHS performance and baggage operations.
• Monitor shift allocation and planning of baggage handling resources.
• Conduct routine and random inspections of the baggage handling system.
• Review and respond to preventive and corrective maintenance approval requests.
• Attend major system stoppages and implement contingency procedures in line with Business Continuity Plans (BCP).
• Prepare and provide daily, weekly, and system breakdown reports and statistics to management.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve operational issues and maintain service continuity.
• Support maintenance coordination and operational resolutions with relevant teams.
• Comply with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Report hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-conformities promptly.
• Participate in mandatory HSE training and promote safe and environmentally responsible work practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational and organizational requirements.

Requirements and Skills

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Operations or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in baggage system operations and ramp operations.
• Sound knowledge of baggage handling systems and airport operations.

Knowledge & Technical Skills

• Knowledge of GCAA regulations and IATA procedures related to baggage operations.
• Familiarity with aviation laws and local/international regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of baggage operations execution and resource coordination.
